Case Study: Budget Friendly Luxury Bathroom

Designed for Lamb & Co. Design | Professional Photography by Erica Wall Photography

Today we will look through the process of creating this beautiful primary bathroom in Snohomish for clients M & J!

When they came to me looking for help with their bathroom updates, they had started the process themselves… and promptly got stuck in the midst of design choices. With the world of Pinterest, Home renovation shows and expos, and endless aisles at Floor & Decor, I find many of my clients in this state. There is a ton of content out there! I am here to help you cut down the seemingly endless list of possibilities and options to something attainable, investment-focused, and beautiful!

Let’s take a look at what we started with:

Once we took stock of what the home had that worked: the unique corner vanities, recently updated countertops/sinks/faucets, and beautiful natural light pouring through the corner windows overlooking the sunroom, we could take those items and run with them.

What was not working so well… the oak mouldings (everywhere), the closed off toilet room, the lack of shower space (and decaying grout), and the obvious stall in the beginning of the renovation (where’s the tub?!)

The clients priority list: keep the budget as low as possible, easy-to-clean fixtures and tiles, larger shower, and cohesion throughout the rest of their home and bathrooms they’ve already updated.

With that in mind, hereis the project moodboard:

Gerber plumbing fixtures, Arizona Tile walls and floor, Worldly Gray (SW7043) wall color, and Roycroft Pewter (SW2848) vanities.

The clients loved the large format floor tiles (24x48”) with Anti-Slip R11 texture to prevent slips and falls. We included grab bars so that the clients could age into the home, which is another reason we kept the shower open and accessible. A diamond-shaped bench was added to allow for both a seat and a nice place to shave legs. Medicine cabinets provide extra storage for the clients. We opted to open up the current toilet room to allow for a larger tub and open up the space.

From here, we created 3D renderings so the clients could visualize the final space.

As always, the initial design to the rendering to the final product vary slightly. In this project, there were some issues inside the wall where we were going to place the shower niche. Our renovation team did a great job pivoting, and managed to use the grab bar as both a handshower holder and a practical safety item! Go reno team!

Are you ready for the After photos?!

What a transformation!! I love when a project comes out as beautifully as this one, especially since we got to save the client costs!

“It has been a pleasure working with the Lamb & Co. team from start to finish. Savannah did a fantastic job with our design and the renovation team was incredible… We knew we were in good hands every step of the way! Thank you!”
